Based on analysis and compare of kinds of iron electroplating methods, a new process of iron electroplating without pre-etching and composite electroplating has been brought forward for restoring.Iron electroplating without pre-etching refers to: first, removing the grease and rust before experiments; second, use asymmetry AC-DC electroplating, change the current from asymmetry AC to DC. According to the need of iron electroplating without pre-etching, asymmetry AC-DC supply has been used in experiments. By a series of experiments in choosing parameters, the influence factors on surface, Metallographs structure, thickness, hardness and well-proportioned distribution of electroplating layer, such as thickness, temperature, pH indicator of electroplating solution and The area ratio of cathode to anode, current density and time. Based on a number of process experiments, the process parameters of iron electroplating without pre-etching were optimized. The surface morphology and the microstructure and property of the electroplating layers were observed and analyzed by optical microscope, micro-hardness tester and so on. The basic fundamentals of the electroplating layer formation on joint strength and hard mechanism are discussed. Electroplating layer made by iron electroplating without pre-etching in low temperature, having advantage as following: low temperature in electroplating; high joint strength with matrix; quick deposition velocity; the well-proportioned thickness of electroplating layer; high hardness; well wear resistance; low cost; no pollution and so on.
