Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of starch to D-glucose under microwave irradiation was investigated and it was found that microwave irradiation may not only accelerate acid hydrolysis of starch, but also decrease the by-product and result in a higher output. The orthogonal experiment was employed to obtain the optimal reaction condition: starch10%, 0.125mol/L HC1. 0.1mol/L NaCl and microwave irradiation for 4min; On this condition the yield of glucose up to 98.9%. This article also found that the retrograded starch was deformed by microwave irradiation and making it soluble ,subject to hydrolysis to facilitate the filtration of the hydrolysates.
