Performance analysis is important for the safety and efficiency of refrigerators and heat pumps. Refrigerant property computational tools, mathematical model and a method based on a set of state parameters relative to performance analysis of refrigerator and heat pump are developed. At the same time, an experimental device to simulate refrigerant leaking of refrigerator and heat pumps are also built up.The computational tools of refrigerant properties include calculation methods of property constants and ideal gas specific heat capacity based on group contribution method, and calculation methods of thermodynamic properties based on PR equation. The main advantage of the property tools is that properties of a refrigerant can be given only from its molecular structure. Computational software that is founded by VB and Matlab makes the computational tools easy to use.Mathematical models (including compressor model, condenser model, evaporator model and capillary model) are set up which are suitable for the property analysis and performance analysis of refrigerators and heat pumps. In addition, a set of state parameters are chosen for the mathematical model whose changes can be best indicators for performance of refrigerators and heat pumps.The main creative work of this thesis is the method to calculate or predict properties of refrigerants based on group contribution and PR equation, and mathematical models and a set of state parameters suitable for performance analysis of refrigerators and heat pumps.
