The possibility and feasibility of the technique application in Suzhou city is analyzed according to the basic principle and the development at home and abroad of river pollution controlled by aeration. The project which is suitable for the river pollution control in Suzhou area is presented in this paper. The main research work is as follow.(1) Through the experiment of the aeration in simulative river, we can get some conclusions as follows. Firstly, increasing the microbial mass can improve the purification of water quality. Secondly, when the concentration of DO is more than 4mg/L, the quantities of CODCr and NH3-N will be removed by 60.3% and 86.5% after 36h aeration. Thirdly, the intermittent aeration has better effect of TN removement and decrease the cost of function. Fourthly, in the four fillings of the stretch filling, soft filling, scree filling and coconut fiber, the stretch filling is the best successful to grow micro-biological membrane and is the best one to purify the water quality. Fifthly, the comparison between the situation of the flow velocity of O.Olm/s and that of O.OOlm/s shows that the aeration has better effect in the lower velocity flow.(2) The research in the aeration part of Miaojia River in Suzhou city zone indicates that aeration can increase DO, chasten the algae, improve the bottom sludge quality, optimize the ecological community and have the effect of denitrification and dephosphorization. In the meantime, the stretch filling.set in the aeration river can adsorb the suspended material in the water effectively and increase the microbial quantity of the micro-biological membrane on the fillings.(3) Whether to use aeration technology in the water of Suzhou old city zone has been discussed. The filling oxygen quantity needed in Suzhou River has been calculated, the aeration equipments have been chosen and the systematic integration technologies aided to aeration have been studied.Using the aeration technology in Suzhou city can increase DO in short time, purify water, remove the black and odor material, decrease the load of water pollution and promote the restoration of river ecological system. Using aeration technology is feasible to improve the water environment to the black, odor and slow-flowed river in Suzhou old city zone in the season of high temperature.
