In this paper, aiming at the low utilization rate of the feather resource in our country, through analyzing the actualities of the existent thermal insulation interlining, feather and synthetic fiber thermal insulation interlining is made, which is mixed with three-dimensional crimped hollow polyester fiber and ES bicomponent fiber, and is formed by means of air-laid. After measuring the structure parameters and main properties of products, the effect of the parameters on the properties are discussed through the variance analysis and the optimization project is found. Also, the products are compared with other thermal insulation felts. At the same time, the warmth retaining mechanism of interlining is analyzed, and the ways to improve the heat insulating ability are proposed, also the existing models about thermal resistance are analyzed and researched. To make the interlining, the mixing ratio and heat boning temperature are decided through the orthogonal layout. For such three factors as the content of polyester fiber, the content of ES fiber, the temperature of heat boning, every factor is matched with three levels, without regard to interaction. During the processing, the problem about the effect of residual grease on the bond to the feather and synthetic fiber is settled, and the electrostatic problem is also solved. Some structure parameters such as surface density, thickness, porosity and main properties such as breaking strength, heat retention, compressibility, permeability, are measured. Through the variance analysis, the effects of the parameters on the interlining performance are studied. Thestudy shows that the content of ES fiber is the main factor to the heat retention and the compressibility, while the content of polyester to the compressibility and the permeability. The study also insists the number and the position of the adhesive points affect the breaking strength. The project of the felt performance optimization is the content of polyester 20%, the content of ES fiber 10%, and the heat-bonding temperature 150°C.Through comparing the product with the other thermal insulation felts, such as the down, the common spray-bonded nonwoven fabric, the special spray-bonded nonwoven fabric and the floss-like fabric, it can be seen that the heat retention of the product is equivalent to that of the down, better than other comparatives, while the compressibility is placed in the middle. The result indicates that the product has a good outlook. In addition, the warmth retaining mechanism of interlining, from conduction, convection to radiation, is analyzed, finding the ways to improve the heat insulating ability. At the same time, on the basis of the theoretic analysis to the interlining thermal resistance, comparing the experiment results with the deductive results in accordance with the existing theory model, it is concluded that the thermal-resistance in contact has a high proportion ,and the importance of thermal-resistance in contact is emphasized.
