Research And Development Of Multi-section Interlining For Men's Suit

In addition to good design and superior face fabrics, a perfect garment also needs mattching interlinings and other accessories with high quality and performance. With garments becoming high quality and characteristic, interlinings are trending towards "lightness, thinness, softness, stiffness and comfort". The multi-section interlining we mentioned in this paper is a completely new type of interlinings based on the idea of "simplifying the ways of matching interlinings for men's suits and creating the light-weight suits".Interlinings aim at building shapes of garments and garments serve human bodies. First, mass investigations having been made at domestic suit manufactories and interlining manufactories, we dissect four famous brand's men's suits of both domestic brands and foreign brands to analysis and compare the way how interlinings are used to build front parts of men's suits. Mass cases on usage of interlinings of top man's wear also have been analysised. According to these, we conclude current usage situation of domestic front interlinings for men's suits and find the gap between domestic and foreign countries with good garment techniques and the reasons why it happens. Second, fundamental principle on usage of front interlinings for men's suits is proposed, which can explain how the front interlinings are used to build three-dimensional shape and drape of garment according to the structure and motion of men's bodies and also can be the theoretical base for designing and evaluating multi-section interlinings. Third, we focus research on structure and layers, shape and size, material and function, handle and style of general combined interlinings, which were usually used in front parts of men's suits, to prove the fundamental principle. In addition, combining objective evaluation and subjective evaluation, we establish a relatively objective evaluation system for multi-section interlings, which perfectsthe whole research work and benefits the following research. Finally, based on current progress, either modified design or innovated design is proposed. The preview on future of multi-interling is also mentioned.This work is programmed with the help of suits manufactories and interlining manufactories. This mode of research contributes intensifying information communication and technical cooperation efficiently. It also decreases the blindness of developing new products and promotes both garment industry and interlining industry to form a "two-win" ending.
