In order to investigate penetration discipline during dyeing wood and panel of Populus tomentosa and optimum dyeing process, Populus tomentosa dyed with nine separate acid dyestuffs and four kind mixed dyestuffs under atmospheric pressure and dyed with acid scarlet GR in the condition of reduced and reduced-added pressure were studied in this paper. Simultaneously, It was the first time among domestic research that Populus tomentosa panel dyed with cold-heat method was studied. Result showed that chroma parameter and penetration depth of the same kind tree dyed with different dyestuffs which were selective to wood had a great discrepancy. Additives could help improve penetration depth and uniformity and sunproof character of dyed wood. Up-take of sapwood was obviously higher than that of heartwood. Optimum dyeing process of all methods could be found. Up-take and uniformity by cold-heat method were very good, and penetration effect by reduced-added pressure was the best and penetration ratio could even achieved 100%. The infrared spectrum of wood and dyed wood analyzed by FTIR showed that neither new absorption peak nor new organic functions regiment appeared during dyeing. The absorption intensity of some organic functioning regiments had changed because of the appearance of physical and chemical changes. Partial organic functioning regiments of dyestuff molecule took the place of those of wood and overlay phenomena also existed.Populus tomentosa; Dyeing; Acid dyestuff; Reduced-added pressure;Penetration...
