Since polypropylene (PP) fibre come out , the application has gained swift and violent development on industry, military affairs and civilian. In particularly on civilian textile dress,The polypropylene fibre is all through deemed to a quite potential textile stuff, but in a long period of time a vital flaw that PP exhibit poor dyeability limit its furthermore broad application on textile industry . For as much as PP is a kind high polymer which is only bonded by Carbon and Hydrogen. Its molecule do not contain any polarity group that can be bonded with dyestuff molecule, moreover it has high crystal degree, tight structures strong hydrophobic and lack of interspace within the fibre, all that make dyestuff molecule difficult to more forward inside of the fibres.On account of the chemical inertia and huge hydrophobic about polypropylene, generic dye is difficult to dye the fibre and can only gain dissatisfiable permeability and poor permanence of dye. In order to alter the status and the shortage of coloration before spinning, many country are all developing special dyestuff which is fit into PP or carrying through modification on PP. The purpose of modification is that introduce dye sites into PP which make coloration conveniently with general dyestuff.The paper investigate a kind entirely new modified polypropylene fibre that introduce polarity group into polypropylene, for example -COOH, -OH and so on. From a mass of basic technics experiment, we fish out the basic dyeing performance about the modified PP, mostly aiming at choice of dyestuff, dyeing theory, compatibility of dye and other characteristic about the fibre. We research dyeing technics as well as analysing and discussing coloration theory, compatibility of dye, space structure of dyestuff and the influence of polarity on dyeing. In addition, we test characteristic of the dyeing PP , permanence of dye and permeation of humid air. We expect all these can provide some basic data for industrialization production and more in-depth research about the performance of the dyeing polypropylene fibre.After primary choice, we find only disperse dye can gain satisfiable effect comparing with the other dyestuff. So the paper choose the coloration performance of the fibre with disperse dyestuff as investigation object.In research, we make many experiment about dyeing thermodynamics and dynamics, mostly testing adsorption isotherm,velocity curve of dyeing and so on , while contrastively coloration of PET fibre.In research the dyeing polypropylene exhibit a great many side similar to PET fibre. But on the coloration theory, some disperse dye exhibit NERNST model of adsorption isotherm, the others exhibit compound of NERNST and LANGMUIR model,which reveal the existing of double adsorption.The paper also investgate compatibility of dyestuff, velocity curve of dyeing , the temperature of finalizing the design and dyeing, general permanence of dye and other characteristic. After these investgation, we canconclude that the dyeing polypropylene may be dyed with general disperse dye at present, and that gaining rather satisfiable dyeing result while furthest preserving its inherently excellent performance on dress.
