Borosilicate glass has many excellent performances, such as fine thermal stability and chemical stability, good mechanism and technics performance, excellent optics performance etc, for its compact network configuration. So it was widely used in a lot of fields.But there were a number of problem in melting the borosilicate glass in common pool kiln: high melting temperature, big viscosity, boron volatilization etc. All these made it difficult to fit float technics, thus limited the excellent performances and application of borosilicate glass.This paper summarized the application and development trend of borosilicate glass, introduced the float process and the importance of viscosity in the float process, contrasted the traits of single panel fireproofing glass and complex fireproofing glass, and then brought forward the task.The paper further researched the composition, configuration and performance of the borosilicate glass, emphatically discussed its advantages and potential development in the thermal performance field, especially in the single fireproofing glass. Tested its viscosity through the "fall-ball high" temperature viscometer, analyzed the effect of the main oxides on the viscosity and float process; tested the thermal expansion coefficient, research the influence of the main oxides on the performance at the same time. The conclusion showed: the effect of SiO2 increased the viscosity was stronger than B2O3 did, the larger the SiO2/B2O3, the more the viscosity increased; B2O3 can assisted the melting and decreased the high temperature viscosity, but when the B2O3/Na2O was more than 1, the boron abnormality happened; when Al2O3>1.5%(wt%), the influence of Al2O3 on the viscosity was much large, its effect of increased the viscosity was stronger than SiO2, but Al2O3 could not improved the thermal performance; Li2O and ZnO had excellent fluxing action, but Li2O weakened the thermal performance of glass, ZnO strengthened it.Tested the volatilization of boron through the acid-alkali neutralization titration, analyzed the influencing factor of boron volatilization, the conclusion showed that the moisture content and heating-up time were important factor; observed the phase splitting by the SEM, the conclusion showed that the phase splitting were all connected state.Through the research work, we got the constitution range of the fine heatresistant borosilicate glass, mastered the influencing laws of main oxides on viscosity and thermal performance of glass, provided some theoretical instructions for the float producing the borosilicate system glass. Borosilicate glass not only has many excellent performances, but also has great performance adjustability, if it can be produced floating, the borosilicate glass will be widely used in many fields.
