The thesis consists of two parts as follows: Part I : ReviewIt looks back to the development of the halogen-free flame retardants from the view of three aspects such as the variety the burning mechanism and the development trend of the halogen-free fire retardants polypropylene. The important and necessary of the halogen-free fire retardants were given in this part. The main application of these flame retardant reagents was emphasized, too. The research trend of the flame retardants were introduced . Their prospect and the problems they faced were also discussed in this part.Part II: Palygorskite composite material with Palygorsldte complex flame retardant reagentPalygorskite is a clay mineral that together with sepiolite from the group of fibrous clay minerals. A t ypical u nit c ell c onsists o f M g5Si20(OH2) (H2O)4.nH2O. Palygorskite c ontains abundance crystal water hydroxide zeolite molecule water. Simultaneously it contains synergistic flame retardant element Mg, Al In this part, we added hydroxide melamine Palygorskite one kind or more to polypropylene as flame retardant reagent. According to LOI and UL-94 standard studies, polypropylene composite belongs to flame retardant material. Tensile strength rigidity, bend strength data showed that the mechanic performances of composite were change silightly. The result indicated that Palygorskite is a good flame retardant reagent.
