Based on introduction of the flocculants definition, flocculation mechanism, sort, and the development and application of the natural organic polymer flocculants and the bentonite in treatment of wastewater in recent years, flocculants were prepared by natural polymer, which applied to treatment of wastewater.Firstly, bentonite was used to synthesize dual cations organobentonite, which was modified with cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTMAB) and epoxy propyl trimethyl ammonium chloride. It was applied to treatment of potato starch wastewater. The removal efficiency of Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) was 62.4% at pH= 7.00. The removal efficiency of COD for the chemical engineering organic wastewater was 58.3%, and the COD was less than 500mg/L, which met the discharge standards of the state. The bentonite was baked under high temperature and acidified, which afforded activation bentonite. It was employed for potato starch wastewater and chemical engineering organic wastewater. The removal efficiency of COD were 51.8% and 57.8%, respectively. The local loess was baked, acidified, activated by silicic acid, which gained a flocculant-Polysilicic Aluminum and Ferroferrite Chloride . It was used for disposal of potato starch wastewater and studied on its flocculant condition with orthogonal design of experiment. Its optimal flocculation conditions were:pH=7.00, the flocculant dosage of 1.0mL, stirring time 15min, the removal efficiencyof COD was 69.5%. The COD of chemical engineering organic wastewater can bedecreased to less than 500mg/L. The loess was modified by CTMAB, it was employed for treating chemical engineering organic wastewater, the removal efficiency of COD was 61.3%.Secondly, the amphoteric polymeric flocculant was prepared with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and epoxy propyl triethyl ammonium chloride. It was used for treating potato starch wastewater. The removal efficiency of COD was 53.7%. The chitosan was modified by glucose, which afforded Schiff base. This Schiff base was used for treating potato starch wastewater, chemical engineering organic wastewater, domestic sewage. The removal efficiency of COD was 50% (pH=7.00), 54.1% (pH=8.30), and 66.2% (pH=7.00), respectively. The epoxy cellulose were prepared by sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and epoxy chloropropane, Thenethylenediamine was added to epoxy cellulose and gained cross-linked cellulose. It was employed for treating potato starch wastewater and chemical engineering organic wastewater. The removal efficiency of COD was 48.8% and 58.9%, respectively. CMC were cross-linked by epoxy chloropropane, which afforded cross-linked cellulose. The potato starch wastewater was treated by it. The removal efficiency of COD was 29.3% (7.00).Thirdly, Calcium-bentonite was modified by amphoteric CMC, which got a novel flocculant. It was characterized by IR spectra, element analysis, TG-DTA, SEM. The potato starch wastewater and chemical engineering organic wastewater were treated. The removal efficiency of COD were 55.3 % (pH=7.00) and 50.5 % (pH=8.34), respectively. The COD was less than 500mg/L for treating chemical engineering organic wastewater.Lastly, the ionic liquid was synthesized by hydrochloric acid triethyl ammonium and anhydrous aluminium chloride. It was also used for treating potato starch wastewater and domestic sewage. The removal efficiency of COD were 61.9% and 66.9%, respectively. The COD of treated domestic sewage was under 500mg/L.
