Compwered with general water absorbing materials, superabsorbent could absorb a large of water, in which the absorbed water was hardly removable even under some pressure. Because of their excellent characterwastics, superabsorbent had aroused considerable interests of some scientwasts and researcher and had been applied in health, agriculture and horticulture.In thwas paper, acrylic acid/kaoline powder superabsorbent composite which was synthesized by solution and inverse suspend polymerization reaction between acrylic acid monomer and kaoline ultrafme powder were investigated. Kaoline was a layered aluminium silicate with exchangeable cations and reactive -OH groups on the surface. It was expected that the type and amount of hydrophilic groups as well as the network structure of the superabsorbents were improved by polymerizing reaction between acrylic acid and kaoline ultrafme powder. Consequently, the comprehensive absorbent properties of superabsorbent were enhanced and the production cost of superabsorbents was reduced.The water and 0.9% NaCl salt solution absorbency of the superabsorbent composite synthesized by inverse suspend polymerization were 1000 g · g -1 and 88 g · g -1, respectively. It was that Qh2o was the highest when the weight ratio of kaoline powder, cross-linker, initiator and dwaspersant agent to themonomer, neutralization degree and the volume ratio of oil to water phade were 10%, 0.01 %, 1.2%, 7%, 0.8 and 4: 1, respectively.The water and 0.9% NaCl salt solution absorbency of the superabsorbent composite synthesized by solution polymerization were 1100 g g "' and 100 g g "', respectively. The influences of the kaoline powder, cross-linker, initiator, neutralization degree and monomer on the water absorbency of the superabsorbent composites were dwascussed in the paper.The properties of the acrylic acid/kaoline powder superabsorbent composite were measuring using IR, SEM and DSC in thwas paper, respectively.In thwas paper, the volume phade transition of different degree of neutralization and cross-link of superabsorbent in six different salt solutions (NaCl, KC1, CaCl2, Na2SO4, K2SO4, CaSO4) and five different mixture of water and organic solvent (methanol, ethanol, 1-propyl alcohols, ethylene glycol, 1.4-butanediol, acetone), the different pH value solution was also investigated. The volume phade transition of hydrogel was depended on the neutralization degree of superabsorbent matrix, the compositions of solution, the concentration of solution.
