In this paper a kind of photocatalytic reactor was researched and developed to remove ethylene gas that was produced by fruits and vegetables in their storage time and may cause fruit ripening and decaying and some undesirable reactions. Experiments have also proved its fresh keeping capability. The factors that interfere the reactor's ethylene removing efficiency include light resources and radiation field; airflow velocity field and concentration field; the inner configuration of the reactor. The equations between them were found and the favorite inner configuration was also got theoretically. Based on these equations a photocatalytic reactor with the highest ethylene removing efficiency could come into being.A photocatalytic system simulating ethylene removing was found to test the reactor's ethylene removing efficiency with different parameters that includes glass tube diameter and length and airflow velocity through experiments. The favorite conditions keeping photocatalytic reactor in higher efficiency state in these experiments were shown as follow: the flow rate of gas was in range of 40-80L/h; the diameter of glass tube was about 50mm; black light lamp was better than the purple UV lamp; and two same glass pipes in series is better than the single one.To test the reactor's capacity, fresh keeping experiments had been done with the testing indexes such as ethylene concentration, hue, mass and photos on some fruits and vegetables like cole, Chinese gooseberry, banana. The results shown that after the same storage time the quality of all the fruits and vegetables which was kept in the photocatalytic system environment was better their countpart.
