In this paper, the effect of grain refinement near the surface layer of pure magnesium and its alloy (ZM-5) by shot blasting treatment on corrosion and corrosive wear property has been studied , through polarization curve test, salt solution immersion test and corrosive wear experiment, the influence mechanics of the shot blasting treatment was discussed, the correlation between corrosion and wear was analyzed. The results show that: (1) The grain near the surface of the specimen was greatly refined after shot blasting treatment, and a large number of new sub-boundaries emerged inside or between the former grains; (2) The polarization curves in steady-state 3(mass)% NaCl solution show that corrosion rate of treated samples is faster than untreated one; (3) The immersion test in NaCl solution shows that with the increase of concentration of the NaCl solution, the weight loss of samples is also increased. However, the weight loss of the treated specimen is larger than that of the untreated one; (4) The corrosive wear experiment shows that corrosive wear rate of all specimen in water+SiO2 is faster than that in oil+SiO2, for the interaction between corrosion and wear in the former condition. In addition, the weight loss of the treated specimen is relatively lower when compared to the untreated one in both corrosive agents mentioned above; (5) Shot blasting treatment accelerated the corrosion rate of pure magnesium and its alloy (ZM-5) in NaCl solution of different concentrations, but enhanced the corrosive-wear resistance in the two corrosive environment mentioned above, especially in oil +SiO2 condition; (6) The degree of shot blasting on corrosive-wear resistance of magnesium and its alloy is depended on matching condotion between corrosion resistance and wear resistance, if the enhance degree on wear resistance is high than the weaken degree on corrosion resistance, that is, in common corrosion agent, shot blasting has some effect to some extent; or vice verse.
