A great deal of steel slag was discarded and piled up. It not only pollutes the environment but also occupies much field. So searching for many ways to utilize steel slag is an important task for the development of steel industry and environment protect. The chief and basic problem that must be first resolved is making the steel slag grained or pulverized, which make its particle size fit for various use of steel slag.This paper takes steel slag as simulation object, and studies the processing technique of centrifugal graining equipment water quenching method for molten steel slag. The content include: the research and making of centrifugal graining equipment for molten steel slag, the simulation test of water quenching method for molten steel slag, study of the common rule of affecting the steel slag particle size effect in the simulation test and study of the feasibility of this method for industrialization graining.The centrifugal graining equipment that we design mainly uses liquid compelling whorl and centrifugal movement effect principle. The equipment has some advantages, such as operation safety, the particle size controlling is convenient, the graining effect is better and the processing rate is very fast, andso on. This equipment was tested by simulation experiment for molten aluminium by water quenching. The experiment indicates that using the centrifugal graining equipment water quenching method for quenching and graining is feasible, and it fit for processing the fluidity is relatively good. In the simulation test, the particle size of the product can fit for the various use of steel slag. The particle size of the product that less than 10mm is 85 percent of the graining product or so, the particle size will minish with the accretion of rotational speed, and we can easily adjust the aperture and rotational speed; so that attain different size of products. At last, we discuss and analysis the physical and chemical character of molten steel slag and the feasibility of using centrifugal graining equipment water quenching method for industrialization graining. The study result indicates that the molten steel slag can use this method for industrialized production.The innovation point of this paper is the design of centrifugal graining equipment. We believe that it will attain more better effect in graining molten steel slag after increasing hydraulic pressure, optimizing aperture and utilizing heat preservation materials to control the temperature, which will provide more reference value for steel plants in graining molten steel slag.
