Dust catching abilities of major afforestation tree species and catching mechanism are studied in Shanxi Agriculture University. Dust reduce effect is studied,too. The result show that:(1)Dust catching ability is different from tree species.The leaves which is harsh,furrow,has pile on it or oil in can catch a lot of things small and round in atmosphere.On the contrary ,the leaf smooth or hasn't pile on catch little.The trees which crown open widely,toal leaf area large can catch lots of dust. As a whole, the dust catching ability of hardwood is stronger than shrub.(2)Greenbelt can reduce dust.TSP in greenbelt is marked lower than bare space. In different constructual green space,the dust reduce ratios at the place 10m to contamination relatively are:harwood-shrub-grass,38%;shrub-grass,31%;grassland,7%;bare space,2.6%.(3)TSP change markedly in all kinds of greenbelt. And there is difference in the gradient of TSP in different structural greenbelt.In the three green structure,the change gradient in harwood-shrub-grass is biggest,shrub-grass bigger,grassland the smallest.
