The usage, research background and main routes of synthesizing cyclopropylamine was introduced in this paper. The advantages and the disadvantages of every synthesizing route were analyzed briefly, and the synthesis of cyclopropanamine was studied . Cyclopropanamine was synthesized by five steps.The intermediate productions were iso-propyl- γ -chlorobutyrate,cyclopropanecarboxylic acid isopropyl , cyclopropanecarboxylic acid , cyclopropanecarboxamide , cyclopropanamine. The improvement of synthesizing iso-propyl- γ -chlorobutyrate was studied. The synthesis yield of iso-propyl- γ -chlorobutyrate was 93%,based on γ -butyrolactone. Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid isopropyl was synthesized from iso-propyl- γ chlorobutyrate and sodium hydroxide. This reaction was catalyzed by phase transfer catalyst . The yield was 84.7%. Cyclopropanecarboxylic acid was synthesized from cyclopropanecarboxylic acid isopropyl with liquid-liquid phase transfer catalyst. The hydrolytic yield was 86.6%. Cyclopropanecarboxamide was prepared by the reaction of cyclopropanecarboxylic acid and urea.The yield was 94.4%.The yield of the last reaction was 84.7%.The total yield was improved to 56.7% in a purity of 90%.
