Over the past years a lot of industrial injury accidents and property losing have been caused, Because of the badness of high speed machine tool performance of safety. Based on this problem, this paper put forward and a kind of method of safety evaluation and optimization of machine tool. Machine tool system method for safety evaluation and optimization is mainly based on the theory of safety system engineering and theory of safety science. Its main content includes system safety objective , demand of machine tool , system hazard analysis of machine tool , system risk assessment of machine tool, system safety optimization of machine tool and system safety program design of machine tool. System safety objective and demand of machine tool mainly makes certain safety objective and demand of machine tool safety design from whole system in order to do safety design for us. System danger analysis of machine tool is to do system hazard analysis for the small system and whole system to find out those that do not agree with possibly system safety goal and demand on whole system. On the basis of system hazard analysis of machine Tool and system safety goal and demand of machine tool can do system risk assessment of machine tool to determine unsafe Part or system, so that we can make good safety measure. Optimization of system safety measure of machine tool is considered from the safety of whole system. It includes mainly design of configuration and safety defending and providing information of using. System safety Program design of machine tool is integration and stretch of above four sides. It mainly simulate expert to solve problem by drawing support from computer. At last, we do safety optimization for grinding machine by using this method.
