High speed machining is the trend of the manufacturing. High speed machine tool spindles are key component of high speed machine tools. With the increasing of cutting speed, the requirements of performance of spindle system are very high. The industry of machine tool demands quickly analysis of spindle dynamic and development of the products with intelligence property owned by themselves. This paper gives the methods and instances of development of the software for rapid design of high speed machine tool spindle.1. Based on the transfer matrix method and ball bearing analysis theory, the dynamic characteristics of rotor-bearing system of high speed machine tool spindle are researched. Besides this, considering about the damping effect of bearing, using GUASS method, the unbalance responses of spindles are calculated. A set of general analysis software were developed using MATLAB with GUI.2. Two types of spindle system 5SD51A and 5SD18-4 are analyzed. The influence of structure of rotor on dynamic characteristics was calculated and compare was made with test result. The optimization of spindle structure was finally done. The first set of critical speed of two spindles is increased by 8.7% and 3.6% and the static stiffness of two spindles is increased by 1.7% and 3.6%.3. Based on the analysis of the specialty of milling center spindle system, the whole transfer matrix method and ball bearing analysis theory was adopted to deal with the critical speed and unbalance response of milling center inner-outer rotors system. Based on such algorithm, a set of software was developed using MATLAB with GUI to analysis the on-developing product of milling center spindle system. A on-developing milling center spindle system was analyzed and the optimization scheme was made. The calculation result shows that the first set of critical speed is increased by 5.6%, the static stiffness is increased by 7.8% and the stiffness on working speed is increased by 7.8%.4. The dynamic characteristics of grinding wheel spindle of the centerless grinder were analyzed by integrating the transfer matrix method, ball bearing analysis theory and cylinder bearing analysis theory. Based on such algorithm, a set of software was developed using MATLAB with GUI. Using the software, the dynamic characteristics of MK111150 serials centerless grinder is researched.
