Liquid membrane processes was a special separation technology which combined advantages of the solid membrane processes and liquid-liquid extraction process. It is an important branches of membrane separations. The processes have special advantages over conventional extraction process. The research of liquid membrane configurations, mass transfer performance and application of liquid membrane separation processes have been carried out successively in recent forty years, and the useful conclusion have been obtained.Zhang wei-dong proposed a new separation technology named Hollow Fiber Renewal Liquid Membrane (HFRLM) in 2004 wherewith the affinity of hollow fiber membrane and solvent, the solvent phase will form a very thin layer of liquid membrane on one sides of hollow fiber membrane which can compart the feed phase and strip phase, then solute can be selectively transferred from feed phase to strip phase.
