Microcellular foams are plastics characterized by cell diameters in the range of 1μm to 10μm and cell densities in the rang of 109 to 1012 cells/cm3. Because the microcells can blunt the tips of the cracks existing in the material and can hold the cracks' extension under the stress, thus the microcellular foams have excellent mechanical properties. Microcellular foams not only can be used as high-performance engineering plastics, but also can be used as the environment friendly substitutive material of natural wood, so they have wide values. By now, the main technologies used to manufacture microcellular foams are periodic means, improved thermal means and continually extrusive means. But each one has its own limitation and can't be used for industrial production, which hinders the wide applications of microcellular foams. This thesis tries to develop a new method for producing the microcellular foamed polymers, which is using inorganic layered nano-particles as carrier, inserting the blowing agent into them, and dispersing inserted nano-particles into polymers, then foaming the material by extruder. The method can control the density and aperture of the foams, thus the microcellular foams can be produced by the subsistent extruder. There were two main works in this paper. The first was using nano-LDHs particles as the blowing agent and utilizing the vapor evaporated from the layer water as the blowing gas to make microcellular...
