With the skill improvement, the ladle has become an important container in metallurgy industry. The production condition and cost are influenced by ladle service life directly in steel plants. There are close relations between service life and the linings stress distribution that caused by the material parameter variety of linings and structure diversity of ladle linings and it would create the tiny crack if the stress exceeds maximum stress value of linings, which would lower the ladle service life because of desquamation of linings.Nowadays, some accurate stress distribution results of high temperature components could be got with the analytical mold and strong calculation function in FEM software. In this paper, the model of ladle linings was established by using software ANSYS and the main facts that influence its temperature and stress distribution was found out. In the meantime, the ladle shell temperature data was measured from spot in WHISCO, which would verify the feasibility of ladle lining model and lining material parameter. At last, a reasonable ladle linings structure which attain the goal of improving the ladle service life was put forward by changing the lining structure and considering the fact about swell gap.In this paper, the temperature and stress distribution of ladle linings in two main temperature loads was simulated and its regulation was found out. An optimum schemes of ladle linings structure that have put into production in WHISCO were brought forward according to compared results of stress distribution from five different ladle structures. And the service life of ladle that based on this optimum scheme is longer than before. So it indicates the feasibility and worthiness of this study.The innovation of this text lies in:1 , In virtue of FEA software to simulate the temperature and stress distribution of ladle linings and ladle shell temperature testing in WHISCO to investigate the stress distribution on different ladle structures and materials completely. An optimum scheme of ladle linings structure was brought forward.2 , the finite elements model of ladle brick which have a swell gap was established by using the rupture theory and software ANSYS to simulate the real conditions of ladle, and the swell gap value was found with contact analysis methods.
