In recent years, influenced by the activity of human beings, the pollution status of coastal area was aggravated in Qingdao. Qingdao will be the city of undertaking the 29~th Olympic Boat-sailing Game. The seawater quality status is the most important factor for the Green Olympic Games. There were nine cruise of investigation for the environmental factors carried out in the 2008 Olympic Boat-sailing field from 2002 to 2003. The distribution and variation of environmental factors were analyzed and the pollution status was assessed. At the base of dynamic model for dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate cycles and budgets in Jiaozhou Bay, the dynamic model for dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate cycles and budgets in the 2008 Olympic Boat-sailing field was established preliminarily. Then based on different class of national seawater quality standards, it was used to estimate the environmental capacities. The main conclusions are listed as follows:1. The distribution of nutrients is complicated because of many kinds of factors. However, the distribution of nutrients presents regularity that the concentrations of nutrients are higher in shore and lower in outer area on the whole. The high concentration area in shore distributes round Mai Island sea area. The distribution of nutrients is mainly controlled by the sewage discharge from terrstrial. Due to the tide, the seawater from Jiaozhou Bay and the mariculture waster may be the factors that influence the distribution to some extend. The surveyed sea area in west is mainly affected by the seawater from Jiaozhou Bay, and the northeast surveyed area is affected by the mariculture seawater.2. Dissolved inorganic phosphate is the main limiting factor to the growth of phytoplankton while silicon may be the latent limiting factor in this sea area. Dissolved organic nitrogen and dissolved organic phosphate are the dominantfraction of nitrogen and phosphorus respectively. The percentage of dissolved organic nutrients is higher than dissolved inorganic nutrients and the percentage of particle nutrients is the lowest. Ammonia is the dominant fraction of dissolved inorganic nitrogen in this surveyed sea area. The content of ammonia occupied about 50% of Dissolved inorganic nitrogen averagely. The highest percentage of dissolved organic nitrogen is about 75%.3. On the whole, the 2008 Olympic Boat-sailing field belongs to the relatively clear area by using national seawater quality standards to assess the main environmental factor. The main pollutants are dissolved inorganic nitrogen, petroleum hydrocarbons, dissolved inorganic phosphate, hydrargyrum and plumbum. Compared with 2002, the pollution status of dissolved inorganic phosphate was mitigated in 2003. But the concentration of petroleum hydrocarbons and dissolved inorganic nitrogen in 2003 was a little higher than 2002. The results of calculating the eutrophication index show that there was almost no eutrophication status in the surveyed sea area in 2002 and in slightly eutrophication status in 2003. The areas in slightly eutrophication status distribute in the coastal area, southwest and northeast area. The percentage of dissolved inorganic nitrogen contributing to eutrophication is about 42% in this sea area. The percentage of dissolved inorganic phosphate contributing to eutrophication is about 35%. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) contributes least to eutrophication, the contribution rate is 25%.4. The Fushan River and Mai Island sewage farm are the main source to affect seawater quality in this sea area. The seawater from Jiaozhou Bay and mariculture can affect seawater quality in a certain extend. The frequent movement of minitype boat in summer fastigium of tourism may be the main factor that leads to the pollution of petroleum hydrocarbons.5. Based on the dynamic model for dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate cycles and budgets in Jiaozhou Bay, the dynamic model for dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate cycles and budgets in the 2008 Olympic Boat-sailing field is established primarily. The results show that this model can simulate themonth variation of dissolved inorganic nitrogen, dissolved inorganic phosphate, particle nitrogen, particle phosphate and particle organic carbon from June to September. Then it was used to estimate the environmental capacities. From June to September the environmental capacities of DIN are 840t within 1st class of national seawater quality. The environmental capacities of PO4-P are 162t within 1st class of national seawater quality. The surplus environmental capacities of DIN and PO4-P are respectively 482U 139t within 1st class of national seawater quality from June to September.
