The resistance spot welding characteristics of miniature workpiece especially spaceflight igniter and the request to welding equipment were analyzed in this paper. It puts forward definitely that the problem of the spaceflight igniter welding was splash. The mechanism that would bring splash welding by the intelligent resistance spot welding machine with waveform control and the spot welding machine with cap energy storage processing were discussed. It put forward using the high frequency pulse electric current (HFPEC) in resistance spot welding and resolving the splash problem of spaceflight igniter welding. The effect of experiment was good. It will contribute to advance the quality of spaceflight igniter welding because of the realization of welding without splash and the resolving of the conflict between welding spot intensity and welding splash. The working has some meaning in theory and some practical value. The design ideal of energy storage welding combining with inverter technology was put forward in this paper. The intelligent inverter cap energy storage spot welding machine with waveform control was developed. The structure theory and result of experiment were supplied. This paper developed hardware control system with waveform control reference signal composed with double RLC circuit and software control system with waveform control composed with industrial computer. Industrial computer and data acquisition (DAQ) card making up of the control system when wording in software control mode. On the one hand, it preset current waveform at will in order to realize the waveform control. On the other hand, it made use of the function of date measure to realize the data collection, display and print of current waveform in order to improve the information level of whole system. Software is developed with LabVIEW design flat supplied by NI corp. in USA. Software system affords experiment flat of waveform presetting and testing of welding current waveform by the powerful virtual instrument function of LabVIEW. And it has excellent interactive interface. And this paper introduced the principium, design ideal and approach of waveform presetting of waveform controlling at will The function of relevant hardware circuit controlling was design in this paper uses litter content RLC surge circuit in simulating the current signal of energy storage welding, and took it as Ug to control the inverter cap energy storage spot welding machine. It realized HFPEC resistance spot welding with hardware circuit and got the effect as good as the system controlled by industrial computer and realized the customization and the low cost of welding machine. That is the intelligent inverter cap energy storage spot welding machine with waveform control developed could run independently without any industrial computer controlling system.
