In this paper, the development of polyacrylamide flocculants in the world is investigated, lots of documents are studied. A novel cationic monomer AETMAC insulate thermal polymerized with acrylamide (AM) initiated by the complex initiating system of Persulfate, NaSF, functional monomer DA and additives can produce poly(AETMAC-AM).This reaction is controlled under low temperature in aqueous solution. After all, basing on polymerization process determined, and through many optimem experiments, the optimem conditions of poly(AETMAC-AM) are determined, and molecular weight is above 1.0×107. Under experimental conditions, the reactivity ratios of AM and AETMAC are computed by means of three methods: F-R, K-T, and YBR. This experiment has been pilot tested, the result indicated industrialized conditions are success and the molecular weight of experiment product is above 1.0×107. Secondly, though the flocculation experiments of using Poly(AETMAC-AM) disposing of bentonite suspension and urban waste water, the optimum capacity is determined. The result of experiment shows the flocculant has many goods, such as: high molecular weight, the good solubility, good flocculation ecciciency. Its efficiency is better than other flocculants, and as good as products abroad. At present , this flocculant is ahead of the cationic polyacrylamide flocculants internal, and has broad prospect in the fields of water disposition.
