In this paper, in order to make frother for mineral flotation, the one-step-method preparation with crude sulfate turpentine oil was studied, in which different catalysts were used, the reaction temperature, ratios of water and emolsifier to the raw material , the dosage of the catalysts and the reaction time were taken into consideration. The synergetic effect of important components to the frothing process was researched, and the reasonable ratio of components with the best synergetic effect was decided.In the suitable conditions, the synthesis reactions using different catalysts were run over the contents of total monohydric alcohols and effective components objects investigated. As a result, a kind of ideal catalyst PS was determined. Then on the basis of preliminary experiments, factors and levels of orthogonal tests were also decided. And by the orthogonal tests, the reaction conditions were optimized. At the same time, feasibility and usage of recycling the catalyst were studied. At last, the effective components , mechanism of synergetic effect and reasonable ratio of them were defined by iron mineral floatation experiments.The main research and results are as followed:1 The PS was used. The content of object components in the synthetical products approached the require of enterprise standard. The contents of total monohydric alcohols and effective components were 36% and 51.9%. Effluvial gases such as thiol and thioether were directly removed and the oil was transparent , clear, better than the industrial products. Besides it's process and equipments are very simple, and the PS was easy to be recycled.2 A lot of single factor experiments on the five factors including dosage of catalyst, reaction time, reaction temperature, amount of water and emolsifier affecting the result of one-step preparation of mineral frother with crude sulfate turpentine oil were carried through, in which the PS was used as catalysts. So four levels of every factor were determined and the orthogonal tests were arranged according LI 6 orthogonal table.3 On basis of a great many orthogonal tests, the optimum parameters on how to get high effect frother from crude sulfate turpentine oil were decided as followed: dosage of catalyst was 20%(w/w); reaction temperature was 60℃; reaction time was 8h; dosage of water was 2:1(mol/mol); dosage of emulsifier was 0.002:1(mol/mol).The final contents of total monohydric alcohols and effective fractions in product could be maintained 32%and55%,the yield of product was 86.6%.4 Results the experiments on recycling catalysts showed: in the process of recycling catalyst, its effect was quite steady. Its lose came from the process of transfer operations. So the catalyst could be easily recycled, which was very significant for reducing the cost of producing, saving resource and protecting environment5 Study on the effective fractions and mechanism of synergetic effect in the flotation process was done in the paper for the first time. The flotation experiments were done, which using different frothers in which contents of the effective fractions were different and contents of sulfur as object investigated. The compared between flotation results ofdifferent frothers and industrial products also showed: the cineols and monohydric alcohols were both effective fractions ; when the ratios of their contents were from 0.39 to 1, they would come into synergetic force in the frothing process, and the results of removing sulfur were excellent.In a word, the one-step-method preparation of frother with crude sulfate turpentine oil and the question about effective components, the ratio and their synergetic effect was studied for the first time. The optimum parameters were determined. The results of research would offer right means for empoldering and using rich crude sulfate turpentine oil of our country, the theoretic and experimental according for the development of our country's mineral separation industry.
