It has become a new research project how to develop and utilize the resource of black shaly Ni-Mo ore. Expects have done researches at a different angle in order to resovle the problem. In the paper main contents and conclusions are obtained as following:(1) The regime of reagent is that the fineness of grinding is 93.79%, the optimal dosage of sodium hexametahposphate as a dispersant agent is 20g/t and the optimal dosage of BY as a collector is 1000g/t ,which was determinated through studying the flotation performance of low grade black shaly Ni-Mo ore.(2) The effect of frother is investigated in the flotation of low grade black shaly Ni-Mo ore. The highest recovery and the lowest grade of the concentrate are obtained when TPNB is as a frother. Both the recovery and the grade of the concentrate are higher when terpilenol is used as a frother in the flotation. The composite frother of ether alcohol/alcohol has good selectivity, in particular the composite frother of TPNB/ terpilenol.(3) The influence of frother on surface tension is explored. TPNB and terpilenol show the best surface activity as single frother. The composite frother of ether alcohol/alcohol presents multiplicative effect at low concentration and the composite frother of TPNB/terpilenol show the best surface activity. The composite frother of MIBC/hexanol appears negative effect at low concentration. The composite frothers at high concentration presents complementary effect.(4) The relationship between composite frothers and flotation performances has been discussed by measuring surface tension and calculating the molecular cross-sectional areas of frothers. The change of surface tension of composite frother improves the distribution of bubble size and optimizes the mechanical property of bubble. Weeny bubbles have good selectivity. The lower surface tension is, the less merger of bubbles is. So bubbles should been maintained with small size as much as possible. By doing so, the grade of concentrate are increased, but the ascensional velocity of mineralize bubbles and the recovery of the concentrate are decreased. The change of molecular cross-sectional areas of frother brings the change of molecular arrangment per unit area at gas-liquid interface. The composite frother makes the loosing of molecular loose arrangment of frother per unit area at gas-liquid interface, the probability that frother and collector absorb at the surface of mineral particles and bubbles is increased and the grade of concentrate does so. But the thickness of hydrophilic group that belongs to adsorption layer of composite frother becomes thin, stability of bubble is deteriorated and the recovery of the concentrate is decreased.
