The crystal engineering of one-, two-, or three-dimensional coordination polymers has attracted considerable current attention, not only because of their novel topologies and fascinating structural diversities, but also for their potential applications in optical, electrical, magnetic, and catalysis etc. In this paper, a series of D-Ï€-A structure imidazole derivatives were synthesized, and many coordination polymers were also synthesized via supra-molecule self-assembly. We obtained the single crystals of the complexes and investigated the relationships between the structures and properties in detail.The thesis includes four chapters:In the first chapter, the recent progress of the imidazole-containing coordination polymers have been reviewed extensively based on the detailed investigation of related literatures. The progress of N-Heterocyclic Carbenes(NHC) and its complexes have also been reviewed.In the second chapter, a series of imiazole derivatives with D-Ï€-A structures were synthesized. The compounds were fully characterized by IR, EMS, ~1HNMR spectra, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction determinations etc. The ligands can react with transition metal thiocyanates, several kinds of coordination polymers were obtained. The structural characteristics of the complexes have been described in detail based on the results of single crystal X-ray diffraction determinations.In the third chapter, the properties of the compounds have been studied. The relationships between structures and properties have been discussed in detail.In the last chapter, a series of imidazoliums were synthesized and characterized.In conclusion, a series of imidazole-containing coordination polymers have been synthesized and studied in the thesis.
