The purpose of this study was to develop an efficient process for isolation and purification of natural products from plant, the extraction and refinement of glycyrrhizic acid were studied from liquorice in this paper.On base of studying of other people, the methods of analyzing glycyrrhizic acid by spectrophotomer were founded. The optimum technological conditions were attained by response surface analysis as follows: extracted with water, extraction temperature 70℃,the ratio of material to solvent 8:1(mL/g), extraction for 3 times(2.4h for each time).The purification technology that the glycyrrhizic acid was refined by macroreticular resins first and decolored by active carbon later was adopted. X-5 macroreticular resin was selected from several macroreticular resins. The experiment results showed X-5 macroreticular resin had big adsorption of glycyrrhizic acid, and the adsorption of glycyrrhizic acid was fast adsorption and followed Freundlich equation.
