In this dissertation, a novel organic-inorganic nanomaterial 8-isobuty]-POSS powder is chosen as a research object. First of all, the basic physical and chemical properties of 8-isobutyl-POSS are studied by experiment techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Different Thermal Analyzer (DTA),Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Scanning Electronic MicroscopyCSEM) and Transmission electronic microscopy(TEM). The results show that 8-isobutyl-POSS is easy to crystal and exist in aggregation in room temperature. Moreover, the melting point and decomposition point is 267℃ and 271 ℃ respectively.Secondly, the preparation technics of 8-isobutyl-POSS/silicone rubber composites are studied. In this dissertation, 8-isobutyl-POSS/silicone rubber composites are prepared by the solution mixing and melting mixing. Experiment techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Rubber Processing Analyzer(RPA) and Scanning Electronic Microscopy(SEM) have been used to investigate the dispersion of 8-isobutyl-POSS insilicone rubber matrix. When preparing 8-isobutyl-POSS/silicone rubber composites by the solution mixing, some factors such as the ratio of POSS and silicone rubber, the drying temperature, the content of solvent could influence the dispersion of 8-isobutyl-POSS in silicone rubber matrix. The results show that lower content of POSS, quicker speed of solvent volatilization and higher drying temperature is easier to prepare finer POSS/silicone rubber composites that POSS well dispersed on silicone rubber matrix. When preparing 8-isobutyl-POSS/silicone rubber composites by melting mixing, the mixing temperature is the most factor which markedly influence the dispersion of 8-isobutyl-POSS in silicone rubber matrix. With the mixing time increasing at high temperature, the dispersion of POSS markedly improved, which resulted in the rise of modulus of isobutyl-POSS/silicone compound due to the formation of POSS-rubber network.Thirdly, three different fillers/silicone rubber composites are prepared and the influence of content of filler is also studied. Experiment techniques such as X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Rubber Processing Analyzer(RPA) and Scanning Electronic Microscopy(SEM) have been used to investigate the dispersion of fillers in silicone rubber matrix. It is found that the content could influence the dispersion of filler in silicone rubber matrix.
