The mixing process of rotary Kenics mixer was investigated numerically using a finite element package, FLUENT in this page. It was imitated that the process of the flow which had been added with tracer, in the Kenics mixer. The author observed the flow type in the rotary Kenics mixer by visible equipment and studied the kinematics of mixing in the mixer from theoretics and experiment.Mixing was evaluated qualitatively by examining the spread of the tracer on the cross-section. It proved that injection location strongly affects the efficiency of the mixing in Kenics static mixer. But in rotary Kenics mixer the efficiency of mixing is independent of injection location.Mixing was evaluated quantitatively by examining the spread of strain rate and the change of average strain rate. The result proves that the efficiency of mixing increases as rotating speed of the mixer elements (N). The Kenics static mixer is quite sensitive to the gap between the elements...
