A new compound which was chosen to be the optics chromophore, ADPA, was synthesised and its molecular structure was investigated. Its optical properties—photo-induced birefringence and third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities x3 etc were investigated in details. The preparation method of the polymer PVK-PBA: ADPA: TNF with which ADPA as non-linear optics chromophore, PVK as charge transport medium, TNF as photosensitive reagent, PBA as plasticizer, was studied. The investigation results indicated that the polymer not only had great third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities with the value over 2.62 × 10-4 esu, but also had strong photo-induced birefringence, photoinduced orientational enhancement effect and optics information storage capability. The multiple angles storage was achieved and holographic storage images were clear. The result had great significance to develop a novel multiple angles information storage material. The properties of ADPA were calculated by the method of quantum chemistry calculation and the microcosmic mechanism of non-linear optics properties of ADPA was explained.
