| In contrast to rigid bipyridyl ligand, the conformation, bidentate angle of flexible ligands are easily modified when self-assembly with metal ions. The influence of the environment conditions can alter the structure of the coordination polymers, thus, it is difficult to predict the structure of the final complexes. So it can construct various, novel supramoleculer structure and will open a new field of the supramoleculer chemistry.In the work, we have synthesized and characterized sixteen coordination polymers using flexible ligands 1,4-bis(1H-1,2,4-triazol-1-ylmethyl)benzene(bbtz) and transition metal cations Co(Ⅱ), Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ).In this dissertation, we only reported twelve coordination polymers forming from bbtz and Cu(Ⅱ), Co(Ⅱ), Cd(Ⅱ), namely, [Cu(bbtz)(NCS)2]n (1). [Cu(bbtz)(H2O)2(NO3)2]n (2), {[Cu(bbtz)2(CH3CN)2](ClO4)2(H2O)}n (3), {[Cu(bbtz)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2(DMF)3}n ( 4 ) , [Co(bbtz)2(N3)2]n ( 5 ) , {[Co(bbtz)2(NCS)2](CH3CN)2}n ( 6 ) , {[Co(bbtz)2(NCS)2](CH3NO2)2}n ( 7 ) , [Co(bbtz)2(NCS)2]n ( 8 ) , {[Cd3(bbtz)6(H2O)6](BF4)6·1.75H2O}n (9), {[Cd(bbtz)2(H2O)2](BF4)2·3DMF}n (10), {[Cd(bbtz)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·2H2O}n (11), {[Cd(bbtz)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·3DMF}n (12) .They have been synthesized and characterized by elementary analyses, IR, luminescence analyses, thermogravi-metric analyses and X-ray diffraction analyses.It shows the flexible ligand usually function as bridge to connect two centers and form one-dimensional single chain , double-stranded chain , two-dimensional network structure, three-dimensional network and (ID + 2D) pseudocatenate to form complexes in thermodynamic or kinetic stable, the flexible ligand may change itself conformation. In the work, we also obtained different structure complexes by using different metal ions, synthesis methods, anions and solvents.
