Study On High Al2O3 BF-slag's Metallurgical Property

The metallurgic characteristic of Tanggang BF slag was researched in laboratory onthe basis of the current production parameters in the paper. The research was focus on theinfluence of CaO/SiO2,Al2O3% and MgO% on slag and established its mathematic model.Then the rational slag system was achieved on the high Al2O3%.The paper was formed of the mineral composition and microstructure study by OM,SEM, etc, viscosity and melting temperature study, desulphurizing capacity and quaternaryslag system composition and characteristic's mathematic model.The results showed as follow. The slag is main of 2CaO·Al2O3·SiO2—2CaO·MgO·SiO2 and α—CaO·SiO2, silicate vitreous. The increase of alkalinity and MgO%will result in the more 2CaO·Al2O3·SiO2—2CaO·MgO·SiO2, less α—CaO·SiO2 and silicatevitreous. While the increase of Al2O3% will lead to the more silicate vitreous, less2CaO·Al2O3·SiO2—2CaO·MgO·SiO2 and α—CaO·SiO2 and the appearance ofCaO·Al2O3 ,MgO·Al2O3 and CaO·Al2O3·2SiO2.The slag of Tanggang iron making plant had a good fluidity, its viscosity was lowerthan 0.5 Pa·s with high temperature, but its free flow range was only about 15℃. So it wasvital of the temperature control. And From all—round, the slag should maintain as thatCaO/SiO2 is 1.101.15, MgO% is 11.5% and Al2O3 is less than 16% which can be reducedby mix coal ,Jidong iron ore and decrease Australian ore. At last the high Al2O3% andMgO%, low CaO/SiO2 can improve the slag fluidity which is the 16%~20% of Al2O3.
