The rolling mill is one of the core facilities in modern rolled steel production. The running state of rolling mill impacts on steel qualities directly. Its abnormal vibrations are main causes leading to falling down of surface qualities. Therefore, the research on its reasons is of great practical significance for improving qualities of rolled steel. Aiming at the hot continuous rolling mill in TAI YUAN IRON AND STEEL CO.LTD, this paper studies on its abnormal vibrations.Most of analyses on abnormal vibrations of the rolling mill are mainly based on the rolling mechanics. In this paper , some different methods are used to analyze abnormal vibrations of the rolling mill from different point of view.Based on the dynamic modeling, analyses are done about the reasons causing the abnormal vibration by comparing models on different running conditions. It is concluded that abnormal vibrations are self-exciting ones caused by simple delays. Vibration tests are executed on job site and power spectrum analyses are done to test results. As a result the central frequency of abnormal vibrations which is at 114Hz is got. By using finite element method, modal analyses are carried out to the base of the displacement sensor and the framework of the rolling mill, whose vertical vibration frequency is gained respectively.This paper elaborates causes of the hot continuous rolling mill in TAI YUAN IRON AND STEEL CO.LTD. Some feasible measures are adopted and executed to eliminate this vibration. Optimal effects of eliminating vibration are acheived. The research of this project is of theoretical significance and engineering values to some extent.
