Objectives: 1. To study the Xingjiubaogan capsules. 2. To investigate the effectiveness of Xingjiubaogan capsules on anti-temulence and alleviating a hangover. 3. To investigate the effectiveness of Xingjiubaogan capsules on alcohol-induced liver injury in mice and rats in vivo. Methods: 1. 48 male mice (SPF) were randomized into model group, low dose, middle dose and high dose Xingjiubaogan capsules groups; three experimental groups were administered intragastrically the contents of Xingjiubaogan capsules with 200 , 400 , 1200 mg/kg respectively; 45min later, 50% alcohol was administered intragastrically in each group with 15ml/kg; at the same time, we record the drunkenness mice by the body-righting reflex. 2. The number, germ line and groups of mice were the same as method 1, 50% alcohol was administered intragastrically in each group with 15ml/kg, at the same time, three intervention groups were administered the contents of Xingjiubaogan capsules with 200, 400 , 1200 mg/kg respectively; we evaluate the effect according to the body-righting reflex. 3. 60 male mice (SPF) were randomized into control group, model group, low dose, middle dose, high dose Xingjiubaogan capsules groups; the methods and dose of Xingjiubaogan capsules, alcohol and distilled water is the same as methods 2. Then, we determined the liver GSH, MDA and serum TG level. 4. Sixty male Wister rats were randomized into control group, model group, low dose, middle dose, high dose Xingjiubaogan capsules groups.Three experimental groups were administered intragastrically the contents of Xingjiubaogan capsules with 200% 400. 1200 mg/kg respectively, 1 hour later, 50% alcohol were administered intragastrically in each except control group, the dose of alcohol was increased gradually, the first two weeks with lOml/kg, the next two weeks with 12ml/kg, and then 13 ml/kg, last two weeks, the dose rise to 15 ml/kg. After 8 weeks, the liver GSH, GSH-Px> MD A level and serum TG> IP, Alb, ALT, AST , SOD level were determined. Results: l.The number of drunkenness mice has significant difference in the xingjiubaogan capsules groups VS model group (P<0.05) . 2.The hours of sleep have significant difference in the xingjiubaogan capsules groups VS model group (P<0.05) . 3.The activity of liver MD A and content of serum TG were increased and the contents of GSH were enhanced in xingjiubaogan capsules groups VS model group (PO.05) . 4.The level of serum ALT, AST, TG in xingjiubaogan capsules were significantly inhibited VS model group (P<0.05); the level of liver GSH, GSH-Px. MDA and serum IP, Alb. SOD have clear difference in the model group VS xingjiubaogan capsules groups in rats(/*<0.05). Conclusions: The xingjiubaogan capsules has clear effectiveness of anti-temulence and alleviating a hangover, therefore, it has the definite protective action to acute and chronic alcohol-induced liver injury in the mice and rats.
