Along with the incessant rise of the population in the world and the continual development of the industry, the problem of the scarcity in energy sources will be severer and severer, the cost in energy sources is incessant augmenting, so the energy saving and consumption depressing are extremely necessary. The industries of petrochemistry consume huge energy, and the atmosphere-vacuum distillation set consumes the most energy in a refinery, which occupies twenty percent to thirty percent of energy consumption in the entire refinery. So the optimization of the atmosphere-vacuum distillation set and its heat exchange network has grate significance.This paper just surrounds the topic, and it uses the reconstruction of the atmosphere-vacuum distillation set in one refinery as technical background. With the colligated use of pinch point technology and flow simulations technology, the paper goes along word as follows:1 , The paper has lucubrates the principium of pinch point technology in optimization and design of heat exchange networks, and finds that some special loops in heat-exchange network have some new characteristics which have not been mentioned in former dissertations, while optimizing the new designed network through disconnecting the loops in the network. It's not appropriate for disconnecting these special loops to use the general method. This paper goes deep into the problem, then proposes an advanced solution, the examination of the solution with the help of flow simulations technology indicates that the advanced solution is effective and viable.2, The paper has studied the principium and approach of flow simulations, and discussed the components data, thermodynamic approaches and waterpower calculation approaches in PRO-â…¡, the flow simulations software which uses for huge chemical industries, and discussed the optimization approaches in PRO-II.3, The paper has studied the principium about module establishment of flow simulation in atmosphere-vacuum distillation, and calculated the entire set with PRO-II, confirmed the compositions and velocities of the flows in the locale, which is the foundation in the design of the heat exchange network; then the paper diagnosed the energy use of the entire system, designed a new heat exchange network with the pinch point technology, adjusted the original network with the advanced approach, the colligated benefit of the heat exchange network is biggest hereunto. The energy saving effect of the new heat exchange network is distinct, comparing with the formernetwork. It indicates the combined use of the pinch point technology and flow simulations can make great function in energy saving, and it is more available than using single technology.4% the paper optimized the entire set with the optimizer of PRO-II, the paper used the entrance positions of the materials in the three distillations as variables, used net income of the whole set as the target function. The comparison of situations of the set runs in optimized operating parameters and in former operating parameters, indicates that the optimization has made great economy benefit.
