The energy source is the basic of human survive and development, fossil energy is mostly used recently, such as petroleum, coal and natural gas etc. The reserve become less and less after explored by human for these energy sources are non-renewable energy. Besides that, the energy source requirement become more with the development of globe, especially our country, China has become an energy import country from an energy export country. The provide of energy became more tension, there's a big gap of energy use efficiency between our country and developed country, so improve efficiency and save energy are more important for modern construct and development.Heat exchange net is an important sub-system of process system, is also important part of process industry such as chemical, oil refining etc. The design or retrofit of optimization net, make it met the requirement of produce, at the same time reach requirement of reasonable economy, which is more important for improvement of energy efficiency.The method and development of het exchange net optimization are discussed in this thesis, and introduce one of the most used methods-pinch technology. The atmosphere vacuum distillation heat exchange net was analyzed and diagnosed by the use of pinch technology based on the net simulation, identifies where the problem lies. Two retrofit methods were listed in thesis. One method was used for the net and then the used heat was recovered. The whole capital cost and benefit were calculated, the cost and payback period were also listed. At last, the availability of the unchanged net and changed atmosphere vacuum distillation heat exchange net was calculated, availability losses were also calculated, and the effect of net retrofit was analyzed.
