Because CTM is biologic product, made of complicated compositions and affected by produce, it is difficult to control quality of CTM .The modernization of CTM is on schedule now, so that it can assure the safety of people's taking TCM and it is more standard and modernized. Capillary column gas chromatography have been a effective method which is used for the analysis of compound of CTM because of its being fast, simple , accurate in recent years. It gets the advantage over traditional packed-column gas chromatography. Chemical analysts could make further studies on the pharmacy analysis.1. Application and Studies on the Quality Standard of Menthol by CGCMenthol is an alcohol obtained from extracts of various mint oils which come from Mentha haplocalyx Birq or prepared synthetically. Currently, menthol is used as an ingredient of pharmaceutical products for its fragrance and flavor More over, it is widely used in foods, beverages, cigarettes, tooth paste and food flavor for its particularly refreshing taste. Many studies on determination of its contents have been reported. However there is no method for quality control of Menthol by CGC.Objective : To establish the method for quality control of Menthol. Method: The Menthol in this medicine was identified by chemical method. The content of Menthol was determined by CGC. Result : The precision and repeatability of CGC were good respectively. Conclusion : Thismethod was fast, simple , accurate and suitable for quality control of Menthol.2.
