Bioflocculant is a kind of biological substance produced by microorganism, which has the ability of flocculating. It is one new kind of water-treatment agent, which is produced (extracted and purified) from microorganism or it's secrete by means of biological techniques. With the properties of innoxiousness, high-efficiency, safe and biodegradation, it can become a new kind of products to replace chemical flocculants. In the experiment, we separated 60 bacteria from soil and activated sludge using conventional bacteria separation and purification method and cultured each single bacterium in the specific culture medium. We measured bacteria flocculating activity and ability of producing flocculent by the flocculating effects of culture liquid and selected 4 bacteria, which had better flocculating effects. All these 4 kinds of flocculants composing microbe belong to Bacillus SP. We inquired into the culture conditions and the factors that influenced the flocculating effects of the microbial flocculent. Culture conditions of microbial flocculants producing were optimized by orthogonal test. The results of flocculation analysis of microbial cell flocculants show that this culture broth had a much more ability to get rid of suspended materials in water and to decolorize the Coking effluent. Compared with the use of traditional flocculants, microbial flocculants resulted in reduction of flocculant's usage. Using two kinds of flocculants could bring about extremely purification results and reduce total flocculant's usage.
