As the development of people's social and economic activity, people excessively exploiting natural resources, the environment has been caused to deteriorate gradually environmental quality in cities has become the focus of the public. The correct evaluation of environmental quality is an essential prerequisite for improving environmental quality from strategic view. However, the work of evaluation at present is sluggish and cannot meet the practical demand. Geographic Information System (GIS) has powerful data dealing with and spatial analysis function, so we can try to apply GIS to the evaluation of environmental quality in cities to solve the sluggishness. This paper, taking Fuxin as an example, studies the principle and the process of the evaluation of environmental quality in cities by GIS, sets up new and more reasonable models of evaluation, makes comprehensive evaluation of environmental quality respectively based on the evaluation of air, surface water, noise, and draws up maps of evaluation. This evaluation greatly improves the scientific reasonability, as well as the efficiency. In a bid to cast a brick to attract jade.
