Camshaft is an important part of the automobile engine. With the development ofthe motor-dom in china, it is required to improve the machining precision of camshafthigher, so that the measurement accuracy of the camshaft is required to be improved.The efficiency of measuring cam in the past is so low that four hours are needed tomeasuring a cam using optical dividing head. So the methods of measuring cam in thepast are not adaptable for the high efficiency of modernized industry. There are somekinds of machine for measuring cam, but their applied range is limited. General, akind machine for measuring cam only can measure one kind of cam. A kind ofmachine of full automatic measuring angle and parameter of cam with the feature ofhigh precision, high degree of automatization, large applied range is introduced in thispaper. This machine can measure the camshaft automatically and can measure thecamshaft manually used as an optical dividing head.This subject is developed by Tianjin Machine Optical Instrument Plant andCollege of Precision Instrument Tianjin University. The automatic sizing device andthe messuring and controlling system of the new machine is studied in this paper. Themethod of data collecting and date processing and the method of error processing arestudied at the same time. Based on the calibration of the enconder, the techniques ofmeasuring angle and measuring transmission ratio using enconder are studied. Themain contain of this paper includes:1. A circuit is designed in this paper used for collecting the data from theencorder and the long grating linear movement sensor.2. A softerware is designed which is sutiable for measuring many kinds of cam.The method of data processing is designed in the software.3. A simple and convenient operating interface of the software is designed.Sothat the operator in the factory can operate the machine easily.4. The error of the machine is analysised and the method of error compensationis studied in this paper.5. The automatic sizing device of the machine is designed.6. A method of measuring transmission ratio is studied. The software formeasuring transmission ratio in this paper is designed too.
