Nowadays water resource runs short of the world has been a truth. Eutrophicationbecomes one of the global water pollution problems, especially eutrophication ofreservoirs, which is menacing the security of cities water supply. The object of thisresearch is Yuqiao Reservoir and a systemic work on eutrophication is done under thesecurity target of water supply.Firstly, some data of water quality status in quo of Yuqiao Reservoir are collectedand researched. Based on those data, some of them are selected and analyzed, andthen the space-time curves of water quality in Yuqiao Reservoir are gotten.Secondly, as algal blooming is the focus of eutrophication and has menaced thewater supply security in cities, the concentrations of chlorophyll, which representedthe quantity of algal to predict have been chosen and advance warnings on eutrophiahave been given. Then, two prediction models are established by means of nonlinearregression analysis and artificial neural network respectively, and the programs aredeveloped on SAS and MATLAB. Furthermore, the theory model of CE-QUALW2 isadopted to validate those two results. The advantages and disadvantages of thosemodels have been compared.Finally, aiming at the forward studied results, according to popular methods ofadvance warning of water quality, they have been adopted in the practical situation ofYuqiao reservoir. A corresponding classified warning project has been made andcombined with the water quality data of 2003. The reasonable results of advancewarning are surely obtained.Thus far, a thorough study has been made on the eutrophia in Yuqiao reservoirand a practical scheme is put forward. The production from this study may be appliedin some practical projects.
