Technologies Of Coke Plant Wastewater Treatment

Coke plant wastewater is a kind of intractable waste water which is from the process of making coke, purifying coal gas and recovering the coke products. Components are complex in coke plant wastewater, in which contain high concentration of ammonia-nitrogen and a number of toxic and difficult decompounded organic compounds. Great changes usually happened to the quality of water and the flow of water. Conventional coke plant wastewater treatment processes adopted activated sludge method, though which the removal of COD and ammonia-nitrogen were dissatisfied and the effluent concentration couldn't attain the standards of draining wastewater. These brought severe harm to our environment and the health of human.New methods and technologies have been introduced since 1980s. Such as two biochemical treatments, advanced treatment, A/O, A-A/O, O/A-O and so on. These methods make coke plant wastewater treatment improved.The standards of draining wastewater are more and more stricter in our country. These treatment methods get great improvement. But these methods do not demonstrate their effect in fact. There are some limitation of the technologies of treatment, management and economy. According to the result of study, the effective ratio of the equipment is only 80% in our country. The ratio of biochemical treatment equipment is only 74% in cyanide less 0.5mg/L. And the biochemical treatment equipment is 17.3% in COD less 200mg/L. We have a long road to go comparing with the advanced country.This study is about the treatment and technology at the coke plant wastewater status in quo, It also studies all the kinds of the methods which have been used in the Chongqing Iron & Steel Company. The new method of O/A-O+ flocculation depositions process is applied. It has been demonstrated that this method is a most effective technology. This technics can make the standard of draining wastewater satisfy requirement in the Chongqing Iron & Steel Company. The evaluation of technique and economy are obvious, as well as environmental benefit. The new method has more advantages and it is a effective technology. And its foreground of application is wide.
