With the main oil field gradually entrance to the high water exploitation ,the fluids exploitedoil field often have a great deal water and sands. Recently, the aging oil which is a kind of oiltreated difficultly with existing measures has been in the fluids. The aging oil with complicatedcomponent has some clays with higher electrical conductivity and mechanical impurities such asFeS, and so on, these substances often make the water capacity in the oil and the water quality ofthe sewage after dehydration out of the criteria in the dehydration system, electrical conductivityof these impurities also frequently lead the phenomenon of the trip in the electric dehydrator andcollapsing the electric field seriously. These can cause a lot of inconvenience in the production. Itis very necessary to seeking a higher efficiency separating equipment for the above-mentionedproblem.The hydrocyclone is a new kind of centrifugal separator in petroleum industry. It has higherefficiency , convenient and maintain ,and other prominent advantages . The state of the art of thedevelopment of hydrocylone and its application on oilfield are introduced in this paper. Thehydrocyclones' basic structure, working principle ,characteristics, influencing factors about itsperformance are deeply studied.On the basic of these studies, the field test about treating theaging oil by using the hydrocyclone is done. Analyzed the field test's results and show theinfluences of the operational parameters and physical property parameters to the field test'sresults from the theory. Combining the results of the field test , the theoretical and experimental researches about thespin separating technology are deeply done. Based on the test's data, analyzing the effect factorswhich the spin technology treats the aging oil and coming to the conclusions as follows :theviscosity of the continuous phase medium is one of important influencing factors that influencethe separating effect. The application of the spin separating technology has two necessaryconditions: one is that the mixture flow must has pressure energy, the other is that between thetwo-phase mediums must has density stratification;hydro-cyclone doesn't suit to the desandtreatment of the aging oil, because when the temperature is enough high and the amount ofemulsion breaker is enough, the aging oil isn't emulsion breaking. As a kind of separating equipment, the hydrocyclone's structure is simple, but it has manyinfluencing factors and the conditions for the field application are also rigorous, above all,selecting structure parameters and operation parameters suitably is important in fieldapplications.
