As an important agricultural and medical intermediate, 4,5,7-Trichloro-quinoline can be used for the preparation of kinds of 5,7-Dichloro-4-phenoxyquinolines with many substitutional phenols, which are reporterd as potent herbicides,microbicides,and fungicides.5,7-Dichloro-4-Hydroxyquinoline is an important intermediate to synthesize 4,5,7-Trichloro-quinoline.It have investigated the routes ,conditions and purify methods in this paper,which offers a base to lucubrate and industrialization,the question belong to the field of agricultural intermediate,the better routes and conditions of the synthesis is established.Two routes were used to synthesize 5,7-Dichloro-4-Hydroxyquinoline:One route beginning with 3,5-Dichloroaniline, ethyl cyanoacetate, triethyl methanetricarboxylate ,through condensation, cyclization, hydrolysis to gained 5,7-Dichloro-4-Hydroxyquinoline;another route use 3,5-Dichloroaniline and propenoic acid as raw material, through addition, cyclization , dehydrogenation to gained 5,7-Dichloro-4-Hydroxyquinoline.Under the optimistic conditions, the total yield of Route I is 63.8 % and of Routes II is 63.6 %.Compounds including the intermediates, ending products and other relative compounds are characterized with different methods.
