Rapidly solidified Al85Y4Nd4Fe7, Al85Zr4Nb4Fe7, Al85Zr4Nb4Co7 and Al85Y4Nd4Co7 (at %) alloys were prepared by melt spinning. As-quenched and as-annealed microstructures were studied by DSC, XRD, TEM and HREM. The paper analyzed the influences of Co and Fe elements for the microstructures of the rapidly solidified Al-Y-Nd and Al-Y-ZrAl-Fe alloy ,respectively, and analyzed the revolutions of Al85Y4Nd4Fe7, Al85Zr4Nb4Fe7, Al85Zr4Nb4Co7 and Al85Y4Nd4Co7 alloys at the higher temperatures.The study indicates that: l)fully amorphous structure could be obtained in the rapidly solidified A185Y4Nd4Co7 alloy ribbons. 2) simultaneous precipitation occurs at room temperatures, which are the phases of α-Al Al3Nb and Al9Co2, in the rapidly solidified Al85Zr4Nb4Co7 alloy ribbons. 3) fully amorphous structure could be obtained in the rapidly solidified A185Y4Nd4Fe7 alloy ribbons. 4) simultaneous precipitation occur at room temperatures in the rapidly solidified Al85Y4Nd4Fe7 alloy ribbons. 5) The thermal stability of the Al85Y4Nd4Fe7 amorphous alloy is higher than that of the Al85Y4Nd4Co7 amorphous alloy, which indicates that Fe element can enhance the thermal stability in Al-Y-Nd-M (M=Fe Co).
