The reaction of arginine hydrolysis catalyzed by the complex [Mn2(NTB)2(μ-O)2]·(ClO4)4·2H2O (B1) has been studied by tracing the 13C-NMR and ESI-MS (Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrum). The result suggested that the arginine was selectedly decarboxylated, deaminated and d-C cleaved by catalysed by the complex B1, and it may be a nucleophilic reaction.The structure of three compounds have been detected by X-ray single-crystal diffractometer, they are [Mn(IDB)(CH3CH2OH)Cl2], [Mn(Im)6]·Cl2·2H2O, and cyclo-dipeptide analogue 1,4-bis-((1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methyl)piperazine-2,5 -dione (C20H18N6O2, A1).Because the crystal of compound A1(1,4-bis((1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methyl) piperazine-2,5-dione) appeared in many times, so it can't be a accidentally phenomena. The further experiment gave some important information on the Mn(I) or Zn(II)-containing complexes, they may be a kind of hydrolase model complexes, which can catalyse IDB into 2-((1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methylaminoacetic acid (IDAB) by ring-opening cleavage reaction on the imidazole, and then two IDAB molecules dehydrated formed a new compound A1.The SOD activity of seven compounds containing di(2-benzimidazol-yl-methyl)-imine (IDB) have been detected. The result showed that the complexes [Mn(IDB)Cl2(CH3CH2OH)], [Cu(IDB)Cl2]·MeOH, [Cu(IDB)2]Cl2·2MeOH·2H2O and [Cu(IDB)]·(NO3)2·MeOH have good activity in catalyse superoxide radical disproprotionation, the reactive rate is up to 107 order of magnitude; the complexes [Fe(IDB)Cl3] and [Zn(IDB)(H2O)Cl]·Cl·(H2O) have poor activity of SOD.
