The modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is blocked by its poor consistence and instability. One of the main reasons is the absences of fast and efficient analytical methods for manufacture process of TCM. In this thesis, the application of NIRs technique in TCM manufacturing process had been studied. The main results obtained from the paper are listed as following:1. Near-infrared (NIR) technique had been used to on-line analyze the content of key compound of Pueraria Lobata Ohwi extracting process, and a partial least square regression (PLSR) model had been developed to on-line measure the content of Puerarin in the extract. The on-line measure results of the proposed model were precisely close to the real content of the key compound. A fast method using Near-infrared Spectroscopy for on-line endpoint determination during Pueraria Lobata Ohwi extraction process was also developed. The result showed the proposed method is fast, accurate, effective and applicable for the extraction process of Pueraria Lobata Ohwi.2. NIRs was used to develop a fast quantitive method of TCM extract concentration. A PLSR model had been proposed to measure the content of general flavone. And satisfying result had been obtained.3. NIRs was used to develop a fast quality assessment method of drying product. A new method for building NIRs calibration model using Radial Basis Functions (RBF) was proposed to model the nonlinear relation between NIRs and concentration of drying product components. The proposed method was compared with PLSR modeling methods. The results showed that the predictive accuracy of NIR calibration models built by RBF was better than that of the models built by PLSR. Similarity measurement was used as the discriminating parameter. The moisture content of samples was quantified by PLSR calibration models. Primary reference data were obtained using the traditional loss on drying (LOD) method. The proposed method is accurate, robust and can be used routinely by the TCM manufacturers.As the research shown, the NIRs technique could be applied in on-line qualityanalysis of TCM manufacturing process, and developed to provide the quality control of TCM with scientific criterion timely.
