The traditional serial methods of product developed had not adapted to the market because of longer period and much cost. But the technology of virtual manufacture, adapting to the new method of product developed, makes up these deficiencies. Technology of Virtual Assembly is an important part of it.Although it has been studied a few years ago, the technology of Virtual Assembly is not quite successful now. Many scholars hold on different opinions. This paper puts forward owns ideas about its theory and methods, and proves them given the example of designing lngoter of 20 Kg Aluminum Caster by means of Technology of Virtual Assembly. The paper's main contents as follows:The paper introduces carefully Technology of Virtual Assembly, its developing course and the important theory and methods of its main branch.All kinds of parts' mold and the model of ingoter, by built in virtual environment of Pro/Engineer, may be expressed though designers describe their information of feature and hierarchy. At the same time, the paper puts forward to the chart about their relationship amongst them.In order to reduce the amount of searching in a model and get easily assembly sequence, there has a new idea that subassembly can be identify because of their function and requirement in a model. Furthermore, the interference matrixes of model in three coordinates can reduce complexity of assembly sequence planning.By virtue of technology of assembly simulation to ingoter of 20 Kg Aluminum Caster, the interference information of static and dynamic state will be got. At the same time, the rationality and correctness of assembly sequence planning will be proved. Inspection some parameters in system, there will prove the feasibility of scheme.The paper brings forward the method of optimal design of tolerance based on dimensional allowance in Virtual Assembly. After In virtue of searching for elements in them, assembly dimensional chain is get automatically. Then, on basis of Da ko 's theory of quality loss, optimal tolerance is gained making use of methods of differential coefficient or genetic simulated algorithm.
